Antiviral medication to treat COVID-19 is now available for eligible people who have tested positive for COVID-19 and are at risk of getting seriously ill.

Getting COVID-19 medicine from our Pharmacy

From 28 July 2022, you may be eligible to get COVID-19 antiviral medicines from our pharmacy if you have tested positive, and your COVID-19 symptoms have commenced within the last FIVE days.

To be eligible you must also either be:

  • have a severely weakened immune system

  • have Down syndrome

  • have sickle cell disease

  • be aged 65 years or older, or

  • are of Māori or Pacific Island ethnicity AND aged 50 years or over, or

  • are aged 50 years or over and have not had a primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations (at least two), or

  • have any combination of three or more high risk medical conditions for severe illness (conditions as defined by the Ministry of Health guidelines), or

  • have been previously admitted to an intensive care unit directly as a result of COVID-19 and have tested positive again.

  • do not require supplemental oxygen
